Article Highlights
This article is an original multilingual rewrite inspired by the WeChat article “梅花易数——解卦绝招”. It does not copy the source text. It reorganizes the core ideas into a beginner-friendly and search-friendly guide.
Meihua Yishu, often translated as Plum Blossom Numerology, is flexible because many things can become a trigger for casting: time, numbers, sounds, movements, objects, direction or a sudden external omen. Flexibility does not mean randomness. The reading still needs structure.
1. Image and Number
Image means visible form, position, people, scene and atmosphere. Number means time, count, trigram number, line number and sequence of change. A good Meihua reading connects both.
2. Main, Mutual and Changing Hexagrams
The main hexagram describes the present situation. The mutual hexagram points to the hidden internal structure. The changing hexagram shows where the situation may go. The moving line shows where change begins.
3. Body and Use
The body trigram usually represents the self, the subject or the root of the matter. The use trigram represents the other side, environment or object of the question. If use generates body, help comes from outside. If body generates use, the subject gives energy away. If use controls body, pressure is stronger.
4. Strength and Flow
Five Element generation and control must be read with strength. A weak element may not control effectively. If the main, mutual and changing hexagrams form a smooth flow, the matter is easier to move. If the flow is blocked, the process becomes difficult.
5. Opposite, Reversed and Hidden Views
Opposite hexagrams, reversed hexagrams and hidden internal trigrams can add another angle. They are not mechanical rules, but they help reveal blind spots, opposite conditions and hidden motives.
6. External Omens
Time, place, voice, posture, weather, direction and sudden surrounding events can support the reading. External omens should refine the hexagram, not replace it.
7. People and Numbers
Meihua Yishu can map people through Five Element relationships, yin-yang, inner-outer positions and context. For timing, amount, age or direction, numbers should come from the hexagram, line position, element number and body-use relationship.
8. A Practical Reading Order
Clarify the question and casting source. Read the main hexagram. Read the mutual hexagram. Read the changing hexagram. Define body and use. Check generation, control and strength. Then add moving line, external omen, people mapping and number reading.
The real skill of Meihua Yishu is not simply forming a hexagram. It is making image and number confirm each other.
